Local Fine Gael Senator, Maria Byrne, has welcomed the announcement that Johnson & Johnson Vision Care (Ireland) adding approximately 100 new roles as part of about a €100M expansion of its manufacturing operations at its site in the National Technology Park, Plassey, Limerick.
“This news is another great jobs win for Limerick. Just last Friday Edward Life Sciences announced 600 jobs for Castletroy and today’s by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care announcement of a further 100 is super news.
“Castletroy has had a series of strong job announcements recently and this is a further lift for a thriving commercial and residential area, conveniently located close to the University of Limerick and the M7.
“This jobs announcement is just one example of how this country has seen the unemployment rate reduce down to 5.4% – the lowest level since 2008.
“Fine Gael’s Action Plan for jobs led to the first jobs led recovery in the history of the state and has overseen the creation of 225,000 jobs in just over six years. I hope to see that continue in the right direction.”
